Summer is coming. According to my calendar it should be here in just about 16 days. That means sunny skies are ahead of us. It’s true, even though it was rainy and overcast today in Santa Cruz.
In the spirit of summer fun I am adding a new category to share on my blog that exemplifies the essence of what the ocean brings to me– health and wellness. The salty sea literally soothes, restores and rejuvenates my tired and aching body and soul. Today’s post is the first in continued series of what I call “ocean potions.”
Soothing Seaweed After Sun Soak
This soothing soak is ideal right after a long day at the beach. Excellent remedy for sunburn for those of you who forget to wear sunscreen.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of water
- 1/4 cup dried seaweed (available at health food stores and the beach)
- 10 drops lavendar essentional oil
- 1/2 cup sea salt
- 1 cup aloe vera juice
Boil the water in a saucepan and add the seaweed. Cover and remove from heat. Steep for 10 minutes and strain, reserving the liquid. Add the oil to the sea salt, mix well and add to liquid. Add the aloe vera juice. Pour into a bath and soak. Very soothing. It gets the sting out.
